Life Sucks most days

As the primary caregiver for my lovely wife Abi it sometimes looks like we are never going to be Normal again , If it isn't the pain my wife feels or the diabetes or the drugs the doctors keep changing for her it will be the depression that comes with it , I feel so alone in my quest to make her the most comfortable that she can be and it hurts me so. Some days she is not in pain but is higher then a kite with the drugs and it takes all my effort to get her to eat or even go to the…

First Swim of the Season

It was a still, hazy early spring morning on Lake Muskoka; April 2 to be exact.  I was alone in the cottage with my English Cocker Spaniel puppy, Phoebe.  The other cottagers were in the city as was my husband.  Every morning for the past six weeks, a crew had been building a dock across the bay, but not today.  Not a soul in sight.  I loved this time of year.  The ice was breaking up on the lake and the only sound was the odd crack.  Total silence; peace.

There was a meeting at the…

A Memory of the Seventies

I was a grad student at the time - the seventies of the last century – and the area of my study (what a grand phrase this sounds now – “the area of my study” – but I think I’ll let it stand) was Physics. I had gone to Ohio University, after completing a Master’s degree at Delhi University, India, with the hope of obtaining a Ph.D.

But midway I lost interest, because I thought the problem I was working on was insoluble, and so, in the summer of 1975, I decided to take off for…

How do You Rodent-Proof Your Property?

Posted by Jack Smith on November 19, 2024 at 4:15am 0 Comments

Rodents are attracted to spots like garages because they offer shelter, food, and nesting spots for them. Once mice and rats infest your garage, it can result in severe damage.
